‘Unhealthy’ Pope told to lay off pasta

thetimes.co.uk - Philip Willan Rome

The Pope has been urged to eat less pasta and take more exercise by doctors worried about the effects of his sedentary but stressful life.

Francis, 78, once depicted as Superman by a Rome graffiti artist, prompted a health scare last month when he admitted that he expected his pontificate to be short. “Four or five years,” he said in an interview with Mexican TV to mark the second anniversary of his election. On a flight from South Korea last year he told reporters he expected to serve “two or three years and then to the house of the Father”.
