UK is a nation of fatties at risk from infectious disease

thetimes.co.uk - Britain has one of the worst obesity rates in the world, according to a global index published today.

It came 111th in an index of 133 countries on this measure because almost 25 per cent of the population is obese, compared with 15.6 per cent in France, 17.2 per cent in Italy and 21.3 per cent in Germany.

People in Britain are also more likely to die from infectious diseases than in many other countries, the Social Progress Index said.
