thetimes.co.uk - The NHS is spending tens of millions on prescriptions for everyday items such as handcream, toothpaste and suncream, a report has revealed.
According to figures released yesterday by The Health and Social Care Information Centre, last year 404,500 NHS prescriptions were written for suncream, which cost the taxpayer £13 million; 4.7 million prescriptions were handed out for indigestion pills, at a cost of £29 million; and 1.4 million prescriptions were written for multivitamins, costing £4.2 million.
