Pregnant women and new mothers did just as well in memory tests as those without babies. However, they rated their own performances much lower, a study found. Memory, organisation and spatial skills all appeared to be unaffected by pregnancy, the research found. Yet pregnant women believed that they were doing worse than women without babies.
Researchers at Brigham Young University in Utah said that women were being swayed by cultural stereotypes.
