Art students can’t draw, says winner of BBC series

thetimes.co.uk - The Glasgow-born winner of The Big Painting Challenge has expressed concerns that the current crop of art students are “overlooking” drawing.

Echoing the words of John Byrne, the artist who last year commented that the Glasgow School of Art had become a “fun factory” with students “who could not draw”, Paul Bell said that applications used to create 3D drawings had taken the place of artistic skill.

“Students have become so reliant on technology that there’s almost a fear of putting a pencil in their hands,” he said.
