thetimes.co.uk - The destruction of coral reefs is being mapped and the National History Museum is asking pioneers of underwater photography to donate their archives.
The museum has already gathered 10,000 images of reefs taken 25 to 50 years ago and is comparing them with recent footage to show how much of each reef has been lost.
Overfishing and pollution have destroyed about a fifth of the area covered by coral reefs. Scientists say that a similar amount could be lost in the next 20 years.
The Caribbean has lost the most, with up to 80 per cent of its coral cover
