A Successful Launch to the International Space Station

Osteoporosis. Heart trouble. Swollen heads. Shriveled legs. Squashed eyeballs. Cancer.

These are some of the known risks of living in space. One of the main objectives of the one-year mission is to study the long-term health issues that jeopardize future travelers to Mars.

Most of these result from weightlessness. Much of the water in the body, Iinstead of being weighed down by gravity, shifts upward, resulting in shriveled legs and swollen heads. Floating in weightlessness also causes bones to weaken and lowers the blood pressure.
