Putin: Confident of Handling Grozy Attack

nytimes.com - GROZNY, Russia — Russian President Vladimir Putin says he is confident that local Chechen forces will deal with the terrorist attack in Grozny. At least three police officers and six gunmen were killed earlier on Thursday in an early morning attack on Chechnya's capital, Grozny. The fighting punctured the patina of stability ensured by years of heavy-handed rule by a Kremlin-appointed leader. Speaking in Moscow, Putin described the attackers as "rebels" — a reference to the 1990s separatists who fought federal forces who are receiving support from abroad.

Understanding word-of-mouth in the digital age

i-scoop.eu - Word-of-mouth is not new. People have always talked about their experiences, emotions, needs and also products, services and brands. With the arrival of interactive and social media the patterns, role and impact of word-of-mouth have evolved and new, forms of online communities were shaped. These changes affected the ways businesses can leverage the power of word-of-mouth for marketing purposes and, vice versa, the impact of word-of-mouth on businesses.

Watch P Square’s New Track Ejeajo Ft Rapper T.I

naijalivinguk.com - When it comes to busting moves, no other artist or group beats P Square in Nigeria nay Africa, but P Square have gone all Motown/Micheal Jackson/Commodores on us. Their new dance track, aptly titled ‘Ejeajo’ (let’s dance) has a smooth 70′s vibe to it with a video reminiscent of Michael Jackson’s 90′s hit ‘BAD’. Although T.I is only on the track for like 5 seconds, it still counts and we’re happy the gap between Africa and Hollywood is closing every day.

Do you have a story to write?

Facebook’s Secret Manipulation of User Emotions Faces European Inquiries

bits.blogs.nytimes.com - Facebook could be in hot water with Europe’s privacy regulators. The social network is facing potential investigations after it disclosed last week that it deliberately manipulated the emotional content of posts in the news feeds of nearly 700,000 users to see if emotions were contagious. The company did not seek explicit permission from the affected people — roughly one out of every 2,500 users of the social network at the time of the experiment — and some critics have suggested that the research violated its terms of service with its customers.

South Stream Pipeline Project in Bulgaria Is Delayed

nytimes.com - The port of Varna on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast was supposed to be the gateway for a major new pipeline, directly connecting Europe to Russia’s vast natural gas supplies. Now the project has stalled, as Bulgaria finds itself torn between the European Union and Russia in the escalating conflict over Ukraine. In early June, European officials demanded that the Bulgarian government halt work on the pipeline, saying it breached the region’s rules.
